Samantha entered the house and hung up her coat. She walked to the picture window and looked out. She noticed the car on the road had disappeared. Taking a deep breath, she sat on a comfortable chair and felt her body relax.
"Would you like a drink?"
"Yes, that would be great."
Kerry disappeared into the kitchen, humming a happy tune. She made them both a strong beverage and placed them on the coffee table. She then went over to the window and pulled the cord to close the curtains. While the drapes slowly moved across the window, she let out a cry of surprise.
"What is it?"
Kerry stood back from the window. "I thought I saw movement in the bushes. I'm sure it was a rabbit or something."
Samantha tried to remain calm. "I'll find us a movie to watch." She got up and looked through the video library. As she scanned the titles, the phone rang.
"I'll get it!" Kerry said.
Samantha heard her answer the phone in the adjoining room.
"Who is this? Hello...hello..."
She felt a chill run up and down her spine. Samantha had a feeling the stalker was outside the door. She came up to her friend and noticed the shocked look on her face. "Who was on the phone?"
Kerry placed the receiver in its cradle. "We should call the police. I think there's a man outside the door." She dialed the emergency number and relayed her message to the secretary. "Tell them to hurry!"
"What should we do now?"
Kerry stood undecided. "The guy on the other line said we were doomed."
