The Curse Of The Pharoah's Manicurists
by Angelia Sparrow, Naomi Brooks

Category: Erotica/Gay-Lesbian Erotica/Romance
Description: In the roaring '20s, Charlie Doyle, the ink still wet on his Dartmouth journalism degree, answers an ad for a job as secretary to Edward Kilsby, Lord Withycombe and renowned flying ace of the Great War. The ad leads him to expect excitement, but Charlie never expects quite so much.

When Edward is hired to find missing archaeologist Sir Alexander Spencer, Charlie is about to go for the ride of his life. A whirlwind tour of London, the Paris nightlife, a kidnapping by Edward's jilted fiancee and rival, Cairo, the Valley of the Kings, even the Orient Express all pale compared to what awaits Charlie and Edward in the tomb of Ni-ankh-khnum and Khnum-ho-tep, Overseers of the Manicurists in the Palace of the King.

But not mummies nor jilted lovers, not malaria nor Anubis himself can stop their quest...or their growing love for each other...

"...A high-flying, rollicking romp that takes the reader on adventure after adventure from London to Paris to Cairo and beyond! A wonderful blend of erotica and adventure, heat and sweetness, a definite must-read!"--Sara M. Harvey, author of Convent of the Pure

"...Angelia Sparrow and Naomi Brooks deftly weave together a story that has a feel of genuine historicity, a believable touch of the mythic, and compelling, timeless themes about love and attraction."--Stephen Zimmer, author of The Rising Dawn Saga

Edward looked down at him for a moment and Charlie felt his face tipping up for a kiss again. Edward shook himself and went to stand at the balcony rail, glaring down into the courtyard.

Charlie joined him there, flustered by the meeting. He watched Lady Sarah and her men climb into a Rolls Royce Cabriolet. He was still confused enough that he took a too large swallow of the brandy, which made him sputter and cough.

Edward clapped him on the back. "It looks like we're going to Egypt to find this Sir Alexander Spencer fellow. Make no error, Charles, we will be the ones to find him."

They watched in silence for a few minutes. Charlie finished the brandy and felt a warm glow spread through him.

Edward smiled down fondly, or so it seemed to Charlie. "Time to go, I think." Charlie followed him out into the main room as he made his good-byes to the guests and their host. As much as he wanted to, he didn't hang on Edward's arm, but simply stood at his elbow. The others ignored him.

To his surprise, Edward took his elbow as they started down the front steps to the car. He leaned into that. Nigel, for all that he was the enemy, had indeed been right. He scooted close to Edward for the drive home, but didn't lay his head on Edward's shoulder, knowing he needed to be able to change gear.

Edward relaxed and drove through the city. "That was better than I expected, even if we did have Miss Brown to handle."

"I had a nice time," Charlie said, smiling.

"He usually gives terrible parties. I think he got a new cook."

Charlie giggled and hiccuped a little when the car hit a bump. He was quite content where he was. "I am...drunk," he got out and, quite of its own accord, his head landed on Edward's shoulder.

"You are indeed. On a single brandy." Edward ruffled his short brown hair. "Americans."

Charlie giggled a little. "I never have been really drunk." The absinthe with Frank had been barely two mouthfuls and he hadn't been more than tipsy.

Edward's hand hadn't moved from his hair and traced his ear. "Do you like it?"

Charlie rubbed his cheek against Edward's wrist. "I'm not sure. I feel terribly silly, as if the world's not quite real. Or as if I'm not quite real."

Edward never stopped touching him. "Well, you won't feel so silly tomorrow. I'll make sure the ladies don't go knocking on your door too early."

Charlie sighed softly. "Thank you." He settled in, making himself more comfortable on Edward's shoulder. They rode the rest of the short distance to the town house and Edward parked the car.

Neither man moved for a few moments and then Edward tipped Charlie's face up to him. "Is this real?" he asked. He kissed Charlie, his lips soft and warm, moving very gently.

Charlie nodded as Edward let him up. "Very real." He stretched up, trying to get closer to Edward's lips. "The only real thing in the world."

He finally reached Edward's mouth and tasted it. More soothing than the tea, more warming than the brandy, Edward tasted of both and of the tobacco and of himself. Charlie flicked his tongue over Edward's lips, trying for more of his taste and Edward opened to him. The warm wetness of his mouth encouraged Charlie and he plunged deep, taking what he'd wanted since the first day he'd seen Edward.

Charlie was dimly aware of big hands on the side of his face, holding him close. He became more aware as they eased him away, breaking the kiss.

"It's late, Charles. And you are going to have a sore head tomorrow." He kissed Charlie's forehead. "Up to bed with you. I've already taken shameless advantage of your first intoxication."

Charlie managed the steps, mostly by holding onto the rail with one hand and Edward with the other. They seemed to be a million miles away or right under his nose, sometimes at the same time.

He made it to his room, shed his jacket and vaguely remembered Edward undoing his tie. He wasn't sure if there was another kiss or not. He tumbled onto his bed, half-hoping Edward would follow, but was asleep before he could figure out exactly how to get off his shirt.
