Chapter One

Everything was happening so fast.

Everything was so confusing.

Everything was so terrifying.

Thoughts flew through her mind. Reliving angry, uncomfortable and sad memories from her past, Donna found herself physically and mentally captive in the hands of a stranger. But how? Her thoughts raced in confusion. How was he able to know my darkest secrets? How could he have known? Working hard at keeping the hurtful memories in her past buried deep within her soul, Donna questioned this outsider's ability to unearth things she'd told no one.

Donna had looked forward to a typical weekend evening like she had so many times before, meeting up with a few friends, hitting the local club, and hanging out. Excitement amongst the group of girls had run high early in the evening; they'd hoped Mr. Right would miraculously appear amongst a sea of Mr. Wrongs. They had done this every Saturday and never had any problems, except going home with a few Mr. Wrongs.

On most occasions, Donna prepared for her evening like a contestant in the Miss America pageant, fixated on her look but still bubbling with excitement. Her enthusiasm always turned sour after a typical conversation with her father. He had given her the disappointed speech just before her friends came and picked her up. Irate and disapproving of her party life, her father threw every bad grade she'd ever earned as examples of her poor decision making. He reminded her how hard he'd worked in school and the good grades he'd accomplished. He'd ridiculed her life all through school. How 'no employer would hire a dead beat', how 'no decent man would ever want to date a complete slacker'.

She normally ignored his preaching, but that night's soapbox preach had gone too far. She'd blown up. She hated everything her father had put her through. She'd become the party person to get back at him. Feeling loathsome and vengeful, Donna set out to find someone she knew her father would despise.

Then he came into her life.

The distinguished stranger sat down next to her, and Donna didn't feel a bit threatened. He moved with such confidence, so charming and so distinguished. Unlike most of the men Donna had met, she sensed this one might actually be interested in what she had to say and not just what she looked like naked. Normally, a man of this stature would have her father's full approval, but the fact he looked to be the same age as her father would nullify any acceptance.

From the moment he'd sat next to her, Donna became attracted to his overwhelming confidence and intelligent presence. The second she looked into his eyes, her world changed. The entire bar vanished. The sounds of laughter and clanging glasses dissipated into thin air. They were alone. They were inside Donna's soul, and the stranger had complete control.

The man tore into every gut wrenching memory Donna harbored, making her relive every bitter secret she'd held deep within her. He exposed everything from the anger of being moved from her hometown to her inability to say no to sex. The stranger knew every situation from her past, everything that made Donna tick, enabling him to control her current feelings. He mentally beat her down, forcing her to relive her awful past. The entire sequence happened so fast, flashing every possible emotion through Donna's veins. Every emotion and secret Donna tried hard to hide became exposed. The stranger piloted the agony of her existence, rendering her vulnerable to his power.
