"...a quick read that is fun, fast, and an excellent way to pass an hour... Good characters, a fun filled plot, and just enough suspense to keep the pages turning." ~ Rose, Between the Lines Reviews

A man stood before him with brilliant light glowing around him. He was tall and muscular with long blond hair and bright blue eyes that flashed like lightening.

"I am Thor, son of Odin, god of thunder and lightning."

Keith sat back in the chair and chuckled. "You don't say? Well, it's been a long time since I've had a crazy dream, must be from the liquor. So, what can I do for you, Thor, son of Odin, god of thunder and lightning?"

"I assure you, Keith Hammer," Thor replied in his booming voice, "although I come to you in a dream like state this is no dream. What is happening is very much real."

"Really? Okay, if you say so," he added with a shrug. "So, what can I do for you, Thor, god of thunder and lightning?"

"My father has sent me on a quest to locate my mischievous brother Loki and return him to Asgard."

"Uh-huh, and what does that have to do with me?" he asked with another shrug.

"You, Keith Hammer, must be my vessel while I am here in Midgard."

His brow furrowed. "Midgard?"

"It is what we call your Earth. I need a human host in order to find my brother and deal with him while we are here."

"Why?"

"Because he is hiding within the mind of his own human host."

"Okay, let me get this straight." He leaned on the table holding the bridge of his nose. "You want to take over my body while you're here on Earth in order to find your brother, who has already taken over someone else's body, so you can take him home. Does that about sum things up?"

"You are correct, Keith Hammer. You are a man of honor and as a man of honor myself I can only enter a man of honor. I assure you, Keith Hammer, you will be rewarded for your services in helping the gods."

"Yeah, okay, can you stop with the Keith Hammer thing? It's driving me crazy."

"That is your name."

"Yes, but Keith will do."

"Keith will do what?"

His brow furrowed again. "What? No, look, we just use the first name when we speak to one another here on ... what did you call it ... Midgard. Just Keith is fine."

"As you wish, Just Keith."

"No, no, not Just Keith, it's just Keith."

He looked confused. "That is what--"

"No," he almost yelled with frustration, but stopped himself and took a deep breath shaking his head. "This has got to be a dream. Look, it's like this, you're Thor and I'm Keith," he explained pointing at him and touching his own chest. "Understand? Thor, Keith," he said repeating the motion.

A smile of recognition touched Thor's lips. "I understand ... Keith."

Keith threw his hands up and laughed. "Finally! Now, what's my part in this?"

Thor handed him a golden medallion with a silver hammer in its center hanging from a gold chain.

"Nice, what's it for?"

"You must wear this amulet at all times in order for me to possess you and protect you. To those around you will appear unchanged, but it will be I that is the consciousness in control of your body."

"What will my consciousness be doing? Sleeping?"

"If you'd prefer," he answered. "I could render your mind to an unconscious state or you could be aware of what is happening around you just unable to react. I will make it your choice."

"So, basically I could just be along for the ride if I wanted, watching, but not doing."

Thor nodded. "Precisely."

Keith nodded in thought as he tapped the amulet on the table gently. "Hmm, so what's the catch?"

Thor's face showed his confusion. "Catch? I don't--"

"Come on, man, the catch. You want me to loan you my body so you can deal with your brother, right?"

"Correct."

"Okay and you're telling me I could be rewarded for helping you, too. I don't see a down side for me so that tells me there has to be a catch somewhere."

His confusion continued. "I don't know anything about a catch, Keith. I only know what my father has asked me to do."

"Okay, then why me?"

"You have already been in contact with the human my brother has possessed, you are a good man and it is your destiny to help me."

"My destiny, huh? Well, then, who am I to stand in the way of the gods and my destiny?" he asked with a laughing grin. He thought for a moment and then he laughed out loud. "You know, I can't remember having a dream this good."

"I don't understand."

Keith waved his hand dismissively. "It doesn't matter. Look Thor, I'll help you, but with one condition."

"Name it and it's yours."

"I don't want you in control of my body all the time. I mean, when you find your brother you go ahead and do what you have to do, but if he isn't anywhere around I want to control my own body. I want to be able to work and go about my day normally. I just met this woman that I want to start getting to know, also and I don't want you interfering. Alright?"

"Agreed!"

"Okay then." He picked up the necklace and hung it around his neck. "So what happens now?"

"Now we are one."
