The Allure of the Curse [Curse Series Book 2]
by Patrick Vaughn
Category: Dark Fantasy/Suspense/Thriller
Description: Warrenna's parents hid the family curse for years, blending into society, hiding in plain sight. Discovering she was a vampire at sixteen turned her world upside down. And when her parents were critically injured by a deranged vampire hunter, Warrenna quickly learned the true importance of her parents' role among Zera's Orphans. Now Warrenna must live in a community of fellow cursed orphans. She's got a blood addiction to fight off, the sun to avoid, high school to finish... Oh yeah, and all those evil vampires to hunt. Warrenna really likes Thomas, the cute boy from school, but she must keep focused because he may have the cure for the orphans' curse within him. Besides, Thomas seems to prefer spending time with his human girlfriend. Maybe Warrenna shouldn't have tasted his blood. When betrayal and tragedy emerge inside the orphan community Warrenna is tempted by the power she refuses to embrace. If she surrenders to her urges she could defend her family, take revenge on the betrayer and take Thomas as her own. But giving in to the allure of the curse would come at the cost of her soul.

"Enough!"
The tall man's voice resounded through the small room. Austin's arms instantly went slack and dropped to his sides. Mariah froze in her tracks as though cast in concrete.
"You two are embarrassments," the tall man said in his bored voice. "Back away from our guests."
The Beazers obediently retreated to the far corners of the room. The tall man took a graceful step forward.
"The girl's audacity has changed my mind. I would rather she was here to witness this."
He approached Thomas and peered closely at his neck. Thomas's stomach was a block of ice, and the overpowering smoky smell choked off his breath.
"You are the half-breed's pet," the man stated. "But she has not bitten you." He smirked. "Or perhaps she has done so in a more intimate location. No matter."
In a blink, his bored blue eyes flashed to enraged silver. His thin lips curled back to reveal upper and lower fangs curved to wicked points.
The vampire lunged toward Thomas's neck.
