"I'm sorry," he whispered.

Lexi ran her fingers through his sweat-slick hair gently, soothing him. "Why didn't you tell us you felt this way?" she chided.

He shrugged and didn't answer.

She let out a long breath. "That's why I had to go to extreme measures to get you to talk."

He laughed against her skin. Jason looked up. "It was stupid."

"No," she said. "Your feelings aren't stupid. I couldn't be as strong as you if someone did to me what your ex did to you." Lexi cupped his cheek in one hand; the mention of Jack made him flinch. "I don't think just telling you will change anything, will it, Kitten? You need actions, not words. We'll prove it to you, Kit, we need you just as much as you need us."

He wanted to believe her so badly, he really did, but Jason didn't know if he could simply put his doubts aside. Cooper was always telling him to just let go, but he had been so wrapped up for so long, Jason didn't think he really knew how. He had given his body freely, but could he give everything? "Oh," he said suddenly, sitting up. "Cooper. I hurt him pretty badly, didn't I?"

"Yeah, you did." Lexi stretched, her breasts lifting as she moved like some Grecian goddess.

How stupid could he be? Jason thought. He had come so close to losing everything, nearly saying to Cooper exactly those words Jack had used to break it off with Jason nearly two years ago now. Jason wasn't in this for just the sex, no matter what he made Cooper think. "I'll tell him," he told her, "I didn't mean it like that, I just..."

She placed one finger over his lips. "I get it. I do. I'll make sure he understands. After all," she stood and started to gather her clothing, "I want my present this weekend."

"He told you about that?" Jason sputtered.

Lexi laughed as she shook out her sweater. "We had a little conversation about my limits."

Because Cooper would not do anything to hurt either of them. He'd talk a scene to death rather than be unsure about how Jason felt about something, no matter how much Jason reassured him. "I think you'll still be pleasantly surprised," he told her.

"I'm counting on it." She winked.
