I had never really seen a naked man before. Why had I helped this trespassing, sneaky male? Why did I hide him in one of my favorite reading spots? This room was next to a chimney from the kitchens below. Great in winter. This was spring, and supper had just ended. It was small. Hot. He was naked. He was also sleeping.

I had little experience with men being a shy person, and they mostly took me in the dark and left me unsatisfied. A priestess could have a lover on the sly, but pregnancy was an instant dismissal and not many were often tempted.

And I had only hidden him for a day. What would happen in a week? A month? A year? Maybe I worried too much.

He woke suddenly and blinked at me sleepily. I knew when he remembered being naked because his body tensed. He did nothing, just let me look for a few heartbeats, as much as I wanted.

"Make a drawing, it'll last longer," he whispered finally. I slid in and eased the door shut. I had decided to hide him in one of the empty guest bedrooms, like a child with a forbidden puppy.

I handed him the food and watched him wolf it down, grabbing the little drink I had snatched on my way here and gulping that straight down.

"Any more?" he asked.

I shook my head. "All the food is in limited quantities."

"Wouldn't want the king's whores getting fat, would we?" Strange he sounded so bitter.

"I'm not a king's whore," I told him firmly. "That's an old term. We're just priestesses nowadays. Unwanted brides to be."

"Why aren't you married, then?" he asked. But it was a long, boring story that made me uncomfortable, so I shrugged.

He tried to lay, to look casual, trying to shift his hips. He leaned back, one hand caught behind his head. His penis wobbled in a most ridiculous manner. Men were strange. "You saved me. You said you wanted something." One hand lightly stroked his penis, from bottom to top. "So what is this job I am to do for you?"

"Oh, I need some help moving rocks in the garden." I nodded my head.

He looked deflated somehow. "Oh." He covered himself up with a ripped sheet. Well, what was he suspecting? I had offered him sanctuary in return for a quick job. Really, I could have done the job myself, but I wanted him near me. Life was too monotonous in the temple. Eat, sleep, study, chores, do it all again. He was an oasis of new in a desert of boredom, a cool wind of change on a stifling life. I lured him with a promise of a trade, work for me and I'll hide you. I'll keep him for a week, like a smuggled in kitten, than let him go.
