While Eden Graves was not one of those young women who would strike anyone as being hot as a two-dollar pistol in a shoot-out, she could surely turn heads when she entered a room. She was just plain and simply pretty. She had a sweet face and an air of innocence, the type of girl that every red-blooded man wanted to protect. And she used that to her advantage.

She had used all her charms during the interview too, but Tipton Burke wasn't convinced that she was for real. He'd still hired her though, about four months ago and he had to admit that she did a good job. Her attention to detail was important to the work she did, and she showed up for work everyday and on time to boot. She had every guy in the office stopping by her desk to say hi and to ask her how she was doing in her new job. But Tip knew it was only because of the short skirts and the flashy legs. He knew that she was trolling for the attention and in spite of that knowledge, he was still taken in by her charms. She was sweet, almost shy and innocent, certainly coy and soft spoken; all those things that made her sexy as hell.

It didn't take Eden but about a month to find out that Tip and his wife Harry, short for Harriet, were having problems. They had separated only the month before Eden started working for Tip. It seemed to Tipton that the young woman increased her level of interest as soon as she found out about the possible break-up. Now she was the first to ask about how things were going with that problem and she never missed an opportunity to offer to be a friendly ear if he ever needed someone to talk to. And Tip, in a weak moment or two, had taken advantage of the offer a couple of times.

He wasn't completely sure, but he had a strong suspicion that she was actually coming on to him the last time they'd gone out for a drink and a talk after work. She said a number of things that he thought suggested she might be available for more than just drinks. And when they'd left the bar to head to their respective homes, she'd given him a warm and lingering embrace, putting her face against his chest and pulling him close to her for longer than a simple hug.

He wasn't exactly sure how to deal with all of that either. He found her extremely attractive. He had a weakness for redheads and blondes and the lighter the better. He particularly liked to see the pale wisps of hair right around her forehead. It reminded him of a baby's tenderness. And her strawberry/corn-silk hair was cut in a layered style that caused ringlets that made her look even younger than her twenty-four years. But the feature he had a near impossible time keeping his eyes from was her mouth. She had luscious lips that just begged to be kissed. And those lips were always moving or her tongue was passing suggestively over them.

As they walked in different directions to their respective cars, she looked back over her shoulder at him.

"Tip, if you ever need to, it would be okay if you called me at home ... at night ... you know?"

"Thanks Eden. I'll keep that in mind."

What was it about this girl? She was driving him crazy. He wasn't really upset by the pending divorce, quite the contrary in fact. That wasn't the reason he had chosen to have a drink with her after work. He just liked being around her. Plus he was curious as to just what her game was. He knew that she had worked at a state university, his alma mater in fact. He should probably give Dan Drapper a call. Dan was on faculty there still. He'd been Tip's mentor twenty years ago.

The telephone conversation had been very interesting. His favorite college professor was now the academic dean and had a pulse on the entire university. That had helped. He'd informed Tip that his little minx had been employed all right, but only a year. It seemed that she had created a situation that involved the former dean. An apparent affair between the now-departed dean and Eden Graves had been hushed up by the powers that be. But the dean who had been going through a divorce at the time had paid her to keep her quiet. At least that was the rumor. And Dan Drapper said that the rumor was certainly true. The departing dean had confided in his recommended replacement. The girl had basically blackmailed her lover to the tune of fifty thousand dollars.

Tipton now better understood just what her modus operandi was and he had no intention of putting himself in the same position as her previous lover. But he had an irresistible desire to have her. Being a pretty intelligent man, it didn't take Tip very long to realize that he had information that she was totally clueless about. He would put together a plan. He would have her. And it would be on his terms and without any chance of recourse on her part.
