Just as she replaced the phone on the base, she sensed Peter's presence behind her. She looked up and saw his reflection in the sliding glass doors. She devoured him with her eyes. This wasn't the whimsical unisex facade of the mime clown, one who lyrically floated through the crowds, mimicking and spreading laughter and magical delight to children and adults alike. Nor was it the intensely dominating creature of her dreams. The one who molded and awakened her naked body like sensual putty in his hands. Who revealed every dark passionate facet of her inner secret fantasies. No, the image reflected back to her was definitely all male. Broad shoulders and a solid chest were enhanced by the close fit of a white T-shirt. Blue jeans enhanced narrow hips and well-muscled thighs. He stood quietly behind her, studying her with a searing intensity she found unnerving. His sandy, sun-kissed hair was still damp and looked darker in the dim light of the room. The late afternoon had also darkened his jaw with a five o-clock shadow, giving him a brooding, rugged definition she found enticing. Her gaze drifted downward, noting his feet were bare, and the casual ease with which he stood storming her hard-fought attempt at control. Sucking in a great gulp of air, it seemed to lodge painfully in her chest. The sight of him was so heady it caused her head to spin and her stomach tumbled in response. Her hands balled into fists at her sides as she fought to retain control and she turned away from the reflection and faced the real thing.
