Slithering carefully out of the robe didn't count as seduction. But it certainly set the stage. Tentatively, she caressed his torso, tracing the arrow of dark hair that disappeared beneath the waistband of his slacks.
Too fast for her eye to register the movement, he shackled her wrist in an iron grip. Dark eyes glinted dangerously.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" he growled at her.
She glared back, humiliation scorching her cheeks. "I thought I was seducing you."
"I prefer to do the seducing. As a matter of fact, I insist on it."
"Great," she said sulkily. "Thanks for letting me down gently."
She turned her gaze on the moonlit window, happy to focus on anything other than him.
A dramatic sigh, escaped from the man she was ignoring.
"I'm doing my best to do the right thing here. It's my job to protect you--not fuck your brains out," he grumbled, sounding very put upon.
Strangely, she found encouragement rather than offense in his crude expression. "Doesn't what I want matter?"
"You don't understand how deadly O'Brien is," he dismissed her feelings.
She pressed her lips together tightly to keep from adding more sarcasm to the already incendiary mood already hanging in the room. There was plenty he didn't understand, too. Since she wasn't ready to offer any further mood-killing explanations, she said nothing that might alleviate his ignorance.
Instead, she deliberately provoked him. "So you like to be in charge."
"Completely."
She'd never been with anyone so self-assured and up front about what he wanted. She melted at the tone of command in his voice, more than ready to learn. "You could teach me to please you," she said tentatively.
"You're not getting how this is going to work. When I want you to do anything I'll tell you and you will please me by obeying me."
"Are we talking about everything or just sex?"
"Everything." His voice held absolutely no hint of compromise.
Everything? No, that would never work. Such a shame.
She forced her gaze away from him by closing her eyes but that just made her more aware of the half-naked man, holding himself in check less than inch away from her bare body.
Suddenly, both hands were pinned over her head and Sam was poised above her--his mouth almost touching hers. He watched her with frightening concentration.
She needed to moisten her lips to speak. But all the moisture in her system was busy plumping her erogenous zones. Apparently, her wanton body had no misgivings about submitting to whatever Sam wanted.
When she opened her mouth to talk, still torn between agreement and refusal, the unformed words shriveled and wafted away.
Sam touched his lips to hers and everything else vanished in the heat of his kiss.
While she'd wavered, apparently, an election had been held and the dictatorship voted into power. She couldn't have mustered an objection while he was kissing her as if it was the most important thing he would ever do, not even if her life had depended upon it.
Finally, when she was lost in excitement, he released her mouth.
"You have maybe ten seconds to get the hell out of here if you aren't willing to be mine."
She touched him, stroking the full lower lip with her thumb.
"I'm willing," she practically hummed the words. Her heartbeat was so fast that it felt like a vibration.
He said something that sounded like good. But she wasn't sure and didn't much care.
She'd never wanted anyone like this. [End Excerpt]Arousal, when it came at all, usually happened after lovemaking, leaving her frustrated and ashamed. The only foreplay she'd ever known had been a few kisses and a couple of light touches. And it had always been too little, too fast.
