Chapter One

Charity scanned the surroundings of the MoonStar Cafe. From what she had read in her files, it was a restored Victorian home. Giant oak trees shaded the cafe giving it the appearance of being protected from outside forces. The colors, done in all natural hues to match that of its surroundings only added another beautiful dimension that she found quite quaint.

Her legs shook as she prepared herself for the next step of her journey, a job. Would she be able to adapt to their ways or would she fall on her face? She'd already found an old farmhouse for her family about five miles from town. Both Drew, her son, and Erica, her daughter, had fallen in love with the old place, and it had only drained a quarter of the money that was given to her by the coven to start a new life. Her children adored the old-fashioned water pump that actually still worked. Inside the farmhouse, Charity had fallen in love with the kitchen. Each cabinet had been handcrafted by someone very talented. The window over the sink was done in stained glass, giving the appearance of diamonds dancing around the room when the sun shone through it.

Charity missed her old home, but she knew there was no going back. Her father had sent other women from her planet here, and things were progressing well. Since the other females arrived two years earlier than scheduled, she knew the problems must have gotten worse on her home planet.

"One day soon I'll avenge you, my love." Charity sighed and walked up to the door.

It was time. Stepping into the dark atmosphere of the club, she looked over the patrons, getting her bearings. Who would have thought big bad Werewolves owned a cafe

The interior of the cafe was done in earth tones to complement the wooden tables filling the room. An antique jukebox in the corner played jazz music, while at the other end, one could hear the pool balls cracking together on a game table. Live plants hung in baskets throughout the cafe. On one of the stools near the kitchen sat Ston. She nodded to her sexual partner. The rumors her mother had heard about Weres being wild and demanding in bed were true. In a matter of hours after coupling with him, all her powers had been restored.

Charity's face heated as she remembered how Ston had picked her up and held her against the wall of her bedroom as he'd pumped into her.

"Excuse me, can I help you?" a high-pitched female voice said.

She jumped and grabbed her hidden belt, but at the last second remembered where she was. "I'm sorry. For some reason this establishment reminded me of a place back home I used to visit. It brought up some good memories." Really good memories. "Yes, you can help me. I'm looking for Miranda Blanche. I have a meeting with her." Charity smiled, facing the small woman. The woman's head came up to her nose. Please tell me the women around here aren't all this small?

"You must be Charity Barns. Miranda has been waiting for you. Please follow me," the little mouse of a woman turned and made her way through the packed room of Weres.

"Is it always this full during the week?" Charity followed the girl around the tables.

"Yes. This is sort of a meeting house is for the local clan and also a haven for other Weres." She stopped and stared at her. "You don't have a problem working with Weres do you?" Her glare could have frozen a glass of water, but Charity just smiled.

Charity shook her head. "Absolutely not. I've worked around various groups."
