Pessimistic people are the best people to borrow money from because they don't expect to be paid back.
Strange thoughts pop into my head in times of intense stress. Driving to stop the man I loved from marrying a woman counted as that type of situation. I was majorly stressed out. And emotional. And maybe just a little bit crazy.
If Shane McBride wanted to marry her instead of being with me, then I should let him. But I couldn't. And that was insane. But I'd never really been like everyone else. Luke Kincaid was definitely different than the rest of the world.
Most people know down to the exact minute when their lives began. Not me.
First of all, I don't remember any of my life before I was around six years old. I don't even know when my birthday is. My adopted parents, Janice and Alan Kincaid, and I celebrated the day Sheriff Richard Skinner found me in the desert--an inch from death.
But today was the beginning of a new life for me. A good life if everything went according to plan. It was the day I would convince my boyfriend to step out of the closet with me at his side.
Of course, that task would be easier to accomplish if Shane weren't getting married. Today.
