Rubbing his thumb over Grady's knuckles distractedly, Gordon asked, "Have you been partnered with Lyle for long?"

"The entire time I've been here," Grady murmured. His gaze fixed on the hand that Gordon rubbed. "I met Lyle my first day on the job. Damn, the man acted like a backwater hick just to piss me off," he said, chuckling. "I caught him making out with some twink, and it shocked the hell out of him that I didn't beat him up. I couldn't leave the guy in the dark, so I explained I was gay, too. He's been fine ever since, and we've found the town fairly accepting of the gay lifestyle." He shrugged. "They're not going to throw any pride parades, but we don't have to worry too much about slander either."

Gordon fought back the wave of jealousy at Grady's words about Lyle. Their easy camaraderie was evident. His thumb paused in its travels over the detective's skin. Seeing his tension, Grady rose from the couch, stepped around the coffee table, and pulled Gordon up to stand in front of him. He wrapped his arms around Gordon, pulling him flush to his body from thigh to chest. Heat flared through Gordon's body everywhere Grady's touched him, flushing his body with need.
