She hovered in the doorway of his bedroom, caught off guard by the bright shaft of moonlight that flooded in through a large window whose blinds had been drawn open. He was awake, his semi-nakedness registering like a hot shockwave between her stomach and her sex. She felt the sudden flutter of her pulse and inhaled a shaky breath.
"Macy?" His body shifted as he propped himself higher, the large muscles rippling like silver shadows.
No going back. "You paid for this," she said bluntly, but a note of huskiness underlined her reply.
A heavy pause filled the space between them.
"I made it clear that you don't have to--"
"You have no place being my hero and I don't want to talk about it anymore." She stepped into the room and approached the bed with false boldness.
He stood up, making her pulse spike. Her gaze fell to the prominent bulge in his grey briefs before making a hasty return to his eyes. In four long strides he was standing before her, green eyes ablaze with a savage fire that trapped her breath in her throat. His nostrils flared as he tucked his fingers under her chin and lifted it so that she met the full onslaught of his gaze.
"You're punishing yourself."
Her breath rushed out. "Call it what you like. Just fuck me."
A low growl curled in his throat while his jaw flexed. "Don't rile me, Macy."
She pressed her palm to his chest and slid it over the tight rows of muscles along his abdomen until it rested inches from his groin. His muscles tensed under her hand and the electric current that curled around them crackled with the same dark emotion she'd sensed at the club. Once again, it flared her arousal.
"Fuck me," she repeated with a throaty whisper.
He let out a low grunt and shoved his long fingers into her hair, grasping a handful behind her nape. His gaze dipped to her mouth before joining hers. "You're prepared to give your body to me...to do with as I please?"
