Demonized
by Naomi Clark

Category: Dark Fantasy/Fantasy
Description: Demons, dogs, and dead hookers. Just another case for Ethan Banning. PI Ethan Banning is smoking too much, sleeping too little, and hearing voices. One voice, to be exact: the voice of the demon that possessed him on his last case. A voice that urges him to hurt, rape, kill, and Ethan doesn't think he has the strength to ignore it much longer. When his latest missing person case turns into a murder investigation, Ethan finds himself fighting not just demonic urges, but black magic, an incubus with a hidden agenda, and a client who just won't pay up. Luckily, Ethan's got a few friends on his side, like Detective Anna Radcliffe, and his trusty dog, Mutt. If Ethan can ignore the demon long enough, he might just solve this case before it kills him. Excerpt: I'd never have made it as a cop. The hours are lousy and everyone hates you. I decided at a young age that being a private eye was a much better prospect. The combination of hard liquor and the chance to spy on women really spoke to me. Hauling a dead hooker out of a bathtub of ice wasn't what I had in mind. Yet here I was on a humid August afternoon about to do just that. The harsh light overhead painted her face chalky white and glowed off the smears of blood around her bluish lips. One hand draped over the side of the tub as if reaching for the vodka bottle laying on the cracked tiles. "Jesus Christ," I muttered, pushing up my shirt sleeves. I didn't want to get them wet, or covered in blood. Someone had slashed the girl a second smile across her pale throat. Blood still oozed from the cut, dripping a sluggish trail between her breasts. The melting ice covered most of her lower body, but patches of it were stained pink, suggesting other bloody wounds further down.
