"Damn big waste of money." I dabbed cold water over the fresh Pepsi stain I'd gotten on my new tie when the airplane hit its first turbulence. I turned off the light over my seat and got up to go to the restroom. When I opened the bathroom door a redheaded little girl scurried past me. Before she closed the bathroom door she turned to me and stuck out her tongue. Annoyed, I waited. The woman who I'd assumed was the girl's mother sat, tapping her foot with her arms folded across her chest. The imp opened the door, made an ugly face, then went to sit with her mother.

When I'd finished with my business, I walked down the narrow aisle to my seat, grabbing the tops of the seats to keep my balance. "Excuse me," I whispered, stepping over an elderly woman and her husband.
