Devon listened to the music pouring out into the street.
It was a dark, moody music heavy on the flutes and drums. It stirred something within him, and he found himself being drawn towards the music despite his fears. He had been surprised when he had gotten the note directing him to The Black Bandit. Like everyone else, he knew what went on in there. Sometimes while sitting on the patio of the coffee house across the street, he watched people clad in leather enter the bar and longed to follow them in.
Some carried whips, and some wore leashes. Silver chains would glint in the half light of dusk, and he found himself wondering about what really went on behind its doors.
Tonight, he would get his chance to find out.
Devon still carried the note in his pocket. It had been pinned to his apartment door earlier this evening. He had found it when he had returned from work. It was written in a spidery script on heavy parchment, and all it said was:
The Black Bandit
Discover who you are
Devon couldn't deny that he was intrigued. He almost didn't go, however. Almost didn't give into the temptation that started eating away at his skin as soon as he had touched the note. He knew that he shouldn't go, that following a note's advice was most likely trouble he didn't want or need.
But he felt compelled to go.
And so he found himself here, in front of The Black Bandit, ten minutes before ten o'clock. Nervous, he ran a hand through his hair and tried to breathe deeply to calm his nerves.
He could do this.
He watched the others who now entered The Black Bandit. They looked excited, happy, joyous.
They looked content. Confident.
It had been so long since he had felt the touch of another man, and he did not relish the loneliness. He did not want it, but celibacy had been thrust upon him. Devon hadn't expected to be alone so soon after starting a new relationship. But Carl, his latest ex, couldn't keep his cock to himself.
He had caught his boyfriend getting sucked off in the bathroom of The Happy Cowboy when Carl was supposed to have been getting them drinks. Devon sighed and wondered if it was bitterness at Carl's actions that had propelled him here tonight.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he frowned and felt the excitement he had been feeling drain away from him. He had been foolish to come here, foolish to even try.
He would have turned away then and gone back home, had someone not called out his name. "Devon!"
Devon turned to see who had called out to him. He watched as a tall, broad-shouldered man came out of the shadows and walked towards him. Devon felt his heart beat faster and his mouth go dry.
The man was gorgeous. He had short blond hair that glinted like gold in the half light of the bar. Devon could make out flashing green eyes, a wide smile and two days' worth of blond and brown stubble covering the man's jaw.
He was one of the only ones not wearing leather; instead, the man wore a simple white shirt with the first four buttons open and a dark pair of jeans that hugged him like a second skin. Devon could see a sprinkling of chest hair, gold like the sun. Devon wanted to reach out and touch it, to touch him.
As the man walked towards him, Devon realized that the shirt material was sheer and he could see the man's nipples and the muscles of his torso and chest. Devon felt himself grow warm.
"Devon..." When the man said his name, it was like honey. Devon found himself nodding vaguely. The man smiled. "My name's Chase. I'm glad that you could come. I didn't think you would."
"You're the one who left the note on my door?" His voice was barley above a whisper.
Chase nodded. "Yes. Mysterious, wasn't it?" Chase smiled again, showing off dazzling white teeth that glinted like jewels. "Fancy a drink?"
Devon nodded, and Chase put an arm around him, pulling him close. His heart was beating so fast, he thought it would explode. He let Chase guide him through the doors of The Black Bandit and into the darkness within.
