Over the next hour, they drained two more bottles of wine and cruised the strip. As they passed the mega-resort casinos, Craig gave Diana his opinion on the best places to gamble, and Dan, conversely, seemed to have seen every show in town. "Not just because there are mostly naked women in them, either," he claimed with a laugh.
"No," Marc said, chuckling, "couldn't be that. It's because you're such a connoisseur of fine song and dance."
As they passed the towering pyramid of the Luxor, Diana asked Craig how the gambling was there.
"There? It sucks," he said softly, offering a sad sort of smile.
She raised her eyebrows and took a drink of her wine, waiting for an explanation.
"Blackjack dealer who works at the Luxor broke his heart," Dan explained.
She blinked. "Really?" She was always interested to hear about people's romances--failures or successes. She might have few inhibitions when it came to sex, but inside, she held the notion of true romance dear.
"Sad but true," Craig confirmed. "Won two hundred bucks at her table the night we met, and she refused to go out with me, saying she'd get in trouble for dating a customer. But I kept coming back, so many times that I wasn't a customer anymore--"
"More like an annoyance," Dan injected, making them all laugh lightly.
"And finally," Craig went on, "she went out with me."
"What was her name?" Marc asked as if trying to remember. "Marlene or something?"
"Marla," Craig said before switching his gaze back to Diana. "It got serious fast. I was crazy about her."
"What happened?" Diana asked.
Craig shook his head regretfully. "Old boyfriend re-entered the picture. Eventually she went back to him. Left me high and dry four months ago."
"And he hasn't gotten laid since," Dan added.
Craig arched an irritated eyebrow at his friend. "Thanks for adding that part." He looked at Diana once more. "Truth is, I've had a hard time getting over her."
She cast a gentle smile. "Well, if you ask me, she made a stupid decision. You seem like a great guy." She wasn't even sugar-coating it. Craig struck her as the perfect masculine-but-slightly-sensitive guy-next-door, and she liked that he'd shared his story with her.
"You've got a very nice girl here, Marc," he said--but then he rolled his eyes a bit sheepishly before returning his gaze to Diana. "Although I have no idea what possessed me to spill my guts to you."
"Uh, the wine, I'm guessing," Marc said.
From there, the conversation turned to sex, and Dan tossed out a question at random. "What's the wildest sex you've ever had?"
Craig supplied an answer. "Easy. Once Marla and I did it on her dad's pool table--while he was upstairs."
Diana raised her eyebrows, laughing, and the guys shared easy high fives. "Dan?" she asked. "What about you?"
"Hmm," he replied, thinking it over. "I guess I'd have to say it was on the fifty-yard line of the Sun Devil Stadium."
This got even more of a response. After the gasps and laughter, he went on.
"I used to live in Phoenix, and a girl I was dating worked at the stadium. She had a fantasy about doing it on the field, so one night we snuck in. I wanted to turn on all the lights, but she was afraid it would blow our cover," he added with a wink.
"Marc, what about you, dude?" Craig asked.
"Uh..." he said, grinning as if he'd been caught doing something naughty already, "let's not go there."
Diana turned to him with an inquisitive smile. "Why not?"
"Keeping secrets from the lady, Marc?" Dan joked.
He shrugged, still wearing a guilty grin as he glanced at Diana. "Well, maybe I do want to keep a secret or two...for your benefit."
"Hmm," she said, "intriguing."
Across from them, Dan was narrowing his eyes on Marc. "I wouldn't put up with that crap, Diana. In fact, I think you should dump his ass and go out with me." He winked.
"Tempting," she said, "but I'm wondering exactly what I have to do to find out Mr. Davenport's naughty little secrets." Casting Marc a sexy smile, she leaned provocatively up against him, rubbing her breasts against his arm as she'd first done back at the show. Setting her wineglass aside, she slid one hand up his thigh. "What's it gonna take, hmm?"
He gave her a playful look of warning. "You'd...better tread carefully there, sweetheart. I'm already beyond frustrated."
"Still?"
"What do you mean, still?" Craig asked.
Marc leaned back his head and rolled his eyes. "Truth is, you guys sort of showed up at...an inopportune moment."
"Shit," Dan said. "Why didn't you tell us to take a hike?"
Marc glanced down at her with a reproachful smile. "Because Diana is too polite."
"I wasn't just being polite--I really wanted to hang out with your friends, get to know them a little."
"Well, I'd say you've accomplished that," Marc said on a laugh. And indeed, Diana did feel she'd gotten to know Craig and Dan as they'd cruised the neon strip together, joking and sharing stories. But she also suffered from the same frustration Marc did, and she wanted to ease it, for both of them.
"Hey, Diana," Craig said, "you never answered the question. What's the wildest sex you've ever had?"
Sitting snuggled up to Marc, her breasts aching and her cunt tingling with desire, she considered her answer. And she found herself having a very unorthodox urge and feeling very tempted to indulge it.
Maybe it was the wine.
Maybe it was the city.
Or maybe it was an impulse to show Marc exactly how wild she could be.
Glancing back and forth between Marc and the other two guys, she said, "I can't quite believe this, but...I think I'm about to have it right now."
