CHAPTER 1
Casi wasn't in the mood for one of her family events. Today it was a picnic in the park which would be nice except that with her family, nothing was ever a simple event. This picnic was being catered by the best caterer in the city and the guest list was a who's who of the most rich and famous people in the world.
She had to make her appearance for the sake of her family, but she didn't have to mingle with them every minute. Glancing around she saw a park in the distance and decided to head that way for a little breather from the stifling people and conversation around her.
Hearing the sound of children playing, Casi made her way to the playground clearing. She sat on a bench to enjoy the tranquil moment.

On the other side of the playground, Veronica sat on a park bench watching her children play on the swings. It always brought her great pleasure to watch them having fun and laughing. Sighing, she thought how wonderful it would be to live as carefree as a child again, where no problem lasted more than a blink of an eye.
Pushing such thoughts from her mind, Veronica was drawn to a movement on the other side of the playground. Her breath caught as she watched one of the most gorgeous women she'd ever seen, push back her dark brown hair while crossing her legs.
The woman looked directly at her, and Veronica quickly looked away. Being a little shy around women she was attracted to, she found it hard not to be nervous. Plus she wasn't very experienced, though she had been attracted to women all her life.
Her nerves took over when she saw the beautiful woman rise and cross the playground.
"May I sit here?" the woman asked kindly. Veronica looked up at her and shielded her eyes from the sun.
"Yes, that's fine." Veronica replied as she sat down beside her and extended her hand. "My name is Casi."
Veronica nervously shook her hand. "Veronica."
"Are those your kids there?" Casi asked, pointing.
"Yes," Veronica answered, keeping her eyes lowered.
"Those are cute kids!" Casi exclaimed.
