The first time I saw Octavia, she was sitting on the stile between the churchyard and the fields beyond. Her expression bore the distracted look of one in deep thought. A beautiful, heart shaped face, framed by blond curls, caught my eye. I could make out a lithe, youthful figure. She seemed so distracted that I saw no problem in pausing to admire. That had become about my limit, I felt -- especially with such a pretty young thing. I hadn't retreated out here in search of romance -- very much the opposite in fact.
