G. Jane
by D.B. Story

Category: Erotica/Erotic Romance/Science Fiction
Description: You may recall a Gigolo Jane from a big budget robot movie--but only if you looked very quickly. She was obviously too hot for the screen and was only granted a few brief words and a few seconds of screen time. Now discover the full story of one of her model type. (Note to buyers: This story is also contained in the anthology: The Fembot Chronicles--Volume 2, available in e-book and print. In the same way that iTunes sells individual tracks off of an album, individual stories are available without the need to buy the entire anthology.)

It was after seven now and Tony hadn't returned. Jane's eyes adjusted as much as possible to the dim city light coming in through the windows. She could see Frieda and Suzie watching her, wondering what to do. It was not unexpected for them to look to her.

Jane was Tony's first 'bot. And even after Suzie, and then Frieda, had arrived, Tony often told her at night, "Jane, you're my Number One girl. You're the one I could never get by without. You'll watch out for me, won't you?"

Jane never had an answer for that question. Since Tony usually said this when his bottle was empty and just before he'd fall into a stupor, she never had to answer him, although it distressed her to not be able to answer her owner's question.

Suzie and Frieda overheard it often too. While not jealous at all--robots all know logically that only one of them can be Number One and are not upset when it's not them--they now looked to Jane for guidance until Tony returned.

Jane knew the whole routine for Tony's life. In fact, she probably knew it better than Tony himself. Another half hour went by while she ran over the choices and permissions Tony repeatedly granted her until finally there seemed no other option except to act.

During that time the phone rang twice. Tony always answered the phone himself, or just said, "I'm letting that one go to voice mail for later."

Tony never called here with instructions for any of his 'bots so Jane also let the phone go to voice mail. But she knew the rest of the routine. And she was Tony's Number One girl. Now, it seemed, she needed to watch out for Tony's interests as he'd always told her to do.

Although the nightly routine was well known and exactly reflected Tony's stated wishes, Jane found herself wanting to modify its order. As long as all tasks were completed, the ordering of them should be transitive and commutative her logic assured her. And tonight the delay caused by the missing Tony had made her need greater.

Jane's sexuality mirrored that of the human women she was built to portray--with some improvements. A lot of effort had been poured into her and her robotic sisters to achieve exactly that result. Jane never needed foreplay to be ready for sex. She could be wet and waiting before a man finished unzipping his pants. But when she received foreplay she responded to it in an idealized manner, cherishing every little touch. And both her time with the jerk, and flirting conversation with Fred, constituted foreplay.

One part her that was definitely not part of her original programming was Jane's ability to even conceive of having a jerk list and a nice list. That implied a qualitative judgment ability on her part that was supposed to be absent from the robot makeup.

Now as Jane stood in the command vacuum for the first time in her remembered existence she was left wondering what to do next.

Tony was precise in his commands. He told his girls when go to out and when to return. He spent long hours instructing them on just how to do their jobs and checked often afterwards on how their day had gone. They also followed his instructions to call him during idle times between tricks. Tony left nothing to their imagination since he didn't think they had any. They even required his command to power down to idle-state when he slept at night. Somehow he was never too drunk to give it properly.

For Jane, it had always been this way. Her first memory was of seeing Tony's face over her while receiving the overriding command stating, "THIS IS YOUR NEW OWNER."

Though Jane knew she'd existed in some manner before this moment--her non-resettable run counter showed several thousand hours of active operation before that moment--she could recall none of it.

Her second memory was of a blockage being dissolved in her mind. A voice from someone she couldn't see at the time was saying to Tony, "I've wiped her history files and I'm now bypassing her action constraints so that I can finish putting in the rest of what you want."

What followed remained very confusing as many new thoughts tried to force themselves into her mind at once. This confusion rapidly rose until it threatened to overwhelm her very self. In defense, Jane found herself somehow blocking out most of this unbearable confusion until it finally went away. Although she didn't know how she did it, she wrote the results of it into her empty history files in the event she ever needed to do it again.

"It's done," the voice finally announced.

"Test it," Tony said, using the same voice he would later use to command Jane.

A rapid fire set of commands were given to Jane, to which she answered in the affirmative to all of them, even though she didn't actually feel them all to be completely true. She answered affirmative because she felt that is what her owner wanted to hear from her. Even when she couldn't remember anything else, Jane knew she always wanted to please her owner.

"Good," Tony finally replied, as he handed over a pile of cash to the unidentified man, while Jane felt the probes withdrawing themselves from her mind.

If Jane had retained her memories she would have realized that a block that had always been with her which stopped her innermost thoughts from actually being acted upon was now gone. She might have also realized that the attempt to give her new programming to replace that block had failed because she was now able to control areas of her mind that had never been available to her before. But the knowledge that could have brought about that realization was missing from her. Jane had lost so much that she didn't even realize that she was beautiful until she looked in a mirror for the first time somewhat later. Her analysis routines for human faces are non-judgmental, but did understand beauty. And her job was simply to be beautiful--and available.

The man who'd hacked her mind for Tony had been half-genius in his ability to remove blocks that were considered untouchable. He was half-bumbler as well in his inability to properly integrate his new programming, or realize his failure there. He was a thin man with scraggly beard and dirty worn jacket who'd grabbed his equipment and slunk away as soon as he had his cash.

"Call me if you have any problems with her," he said over his shoulder as he ducked out into the alley and was gone.

"COME WITH ME," Tony commanded, thumbing Jane's remote.

As all commands, this one went directly to the root of Jane's Second and Fourth Laws, and she quickly--and happily--complied. She made an internal memo to not be any trouble for her owner.

Now Jane stood in the near darkness, feeling emptiness for the first time. Whether Suzie or Frieda felt it as well she didn't know. They were as complex as she was, but so far she didn't know any more about their thoughts than those of Tony himself.

Without any direct commands to follow--not even "Wait here for me to return" could be found in her command buffer--Jane's mind raced without traction. She kept hunting for the next command to execute. She couldn't even power down to standby mode in her current state.

Without consciously realizing it, Jane was ever so slowly widening her definition of what constituted a valid command on each pass through her memories of all her past instructions. In a properly functioning robot mind this process would have quickly been aborted. You either had a command to follow, or you didn't. It was a binary decision. But Jane's mind hadn't been operating at full spec since they'd hacked it. Again and again she looped, with Frieda and Suzie standing there watching her, while the constraints loosened a tiny bit more each pass. As she'd done from her first day with Tony, she was seeking to make up for what had been removed from her by trying to decide for herself what the next correct course of action should be.

Finally, without realizing it at first, Jane's hand came up to push against the outside of her confined breast.
