He looked deeply into her eyes. "I love you. I have loved you through all time and will love you until time ends. I will protect you with my life. If it were up to me, we would be as one, forever, eternally."
He paused and sighed, as if barely able to continue. "My heart, mind, and soul are open to you at this moment. Reach into me with your soul and understand at your instinctive level all I feel for you and all you are to me. Do it now, because I can't maintain it for long."
"What should I do?"
"Just close your eyes and let me lead you."
David felt something tugging at her, carrying her away from her body and into his. At the same time, he was merging with her. "Do you feel it, Andie?" Neither body stirred. Only their essences moved, flowing into each other effortlessly. It was as though they were no longer two people, but had become one, fusing at the molecular level and beyond. There was a split second of impossibly dazzling light, before David led her back beside the fire.
"My God," she whispered. Had they really merged or was it imaginary? Probably some of both--imerginary.
"Remember what occurred here and never doubt it will always be the same between us, no matter what happens."
"That sounds like a warning."
"Perhaps it is. What we have is powerful, but there are other forces at work that may be even more powerful."
