Brenna awoke on a hard surface, but was immediately aware of a warmth surrounding her. She felt more than a little disoriented and couldn't remember where or when she'd fallen asleep. She rolled over to her side and snuggled in more closely to the warmth.
It was hard, but smooth, and its breathing was slow and steady.
Brenna sat up with a start and felt her head spin as painful stabs of light flickered in front of her eyes. She desperately tried to clear her mind and regain her composure. She had no idea where she was and even more disturbing was the fact that she woke up with some...person.
She blinked rapidly as her eyes slowly started to adjust to the room around her. She was sitting on a hard, stone floor with a thin rug beneath her. She was at the hearth of massively huge fireplace that contained a roaring fire.
She was still dressed in the same clothes she'd just been wearing at her store and she was covered with the ancient kilt she'd found in the trunk.
The memory of this morning started to return to her brain as she assessed her surroundings. She had no idea how she got here, but the most insane part was that lying on the floor next to her was an enormous male figure with dark hair and not a stitch of clothing.
He lay next to her as if he belonged there...all sprawled out and naked. She couldn't stop her eyes from taking in the full length of him. His body was thick and muscular and his hands were huge. He looked as if he could snap her in half with one flick of his wrist.
His body contained various scars that looked ragged and swollen and almost as if he'd never sought medical attention for them...just simply allowed them to heal haphazardly.
Brenna ran her hand along the back of her neck as if she were trying to massage a plan of action into her throbbing brain. She had the worst headache she could ever remember having.
She knew that now was not the time to worry about a headache. She had to get out of here and find her way back home and she had to do it without awakening the large, nude man.
She took a deep breath and then started to inch her way backwards and away from the sleeping giant. She'd made it about three or four inches backwards when a large hand reached out and closed around her wrist.
"Nae lass, stay a wee bit longer, won't ye?"
