Rachel Smith
Bio: Rachel's writing philosophy is simple: "If the reader can't put it down, I've done my job." It's a job she enjoys more than any other, although she's had a few to choose from. A mother of four and grandmother of twelve, who grew up an Air Force brat and as a result, "had so many miles on me by the time I was two years old, that if I was a car my parents would have traded me in", Rachel has worked as a salesperson, answering service, childcare giver, receptionist, layaway clerk, case manager for juvenile offenders and HIV prevention counselor. "Not to mention a less-than-brilliant career in fast food." she disclaims. "When it comes to writing, everybody says, 'Write what you know.' My question is, 'Which part?'"
Her solution is to write what she loves: Texas, music, family..."The voices in my head tell the story. I just act as a scribe, until they're done."
