Ed Goldberg
Alert me when new Ed Goldberg titles are added

Bio: Ed Goldberg was born in The Bronx, New York in 1943. An early and avid reader, Goldberg developed a love and respect for the printed word. Despite a grudging nod to the World's Great Literature, it was always the potboilers that interested him. He read widely in the adventure books for boys, and became a devotee of science fiction pulps. Mark Twain was an early favorite. His family moved to Long Island, prompting his mother to throw out all his baseball cards. There he attended high school, writing a humor column for the school newspaper, contributing original skits to the Sophomore Show, and doing school plays. His discovery of H.L. Mencken, Lenny Bruce, and ?Waiting for Godot,? began to develop a dark side. He attempted to do stand-up comedy, unsuccessfully.. Goldberg moved to Washington, DC, in 1972 and became a technical writer and government consultant, and began to write features and reviews about punk rock, jazz, movies, theater, and produced a monthly humor column and a radio column for local papers. In 1991, he moved to Portland, Oregon and finished his first novel, Served Cold, winner of the 1995 Shamus Award for best original paperback fiction. He works at radio station KBOO-FM, where he does movie reviews, author interviews, produced five half-hours of original comedy, and has had a radio play produced about the anti-red witch-hunts of the 50s. Goldberg also DJs at classical KBPS-FM. He lives in southeast Portland with his wife Adele, and his cat Noodles. His two novels featuring detective Lenny Schneider, Served Cold and Dead Air, have been published by Berkley Books. His third novel, True Crime, (as ?Alan Gold?) was published in February 2005. True Faith was published in January 2007. He is currently working on a new book.

1 A Season of Miracles
by Ed Goldberg

He is dismayed to discover what he sees as indifference to the true meaning of Christmas, and ignorance of Hanukkah in America. After a frustrating incident at school, he stages a shocking protest to make people... more info>> (Published: 2010)

2 Dead Air
by Ed Goldberg
Portland, Oregon, is about as far from his home turf as New York PI Lenny Schneider can get. Talk about culture shock: the air is fresh and clean, the rain unending, the drivers are (mostly) polite and slow, bagels are fat and fluffy, and everybody's friendly (sort of). Lenny came to town in search of a baseball hero's missing daughter, and mooched a bed at an old buddy's place. Next thing he knows, he's involved in controversy, intrigue, and murder. Walter, a radio show host with a talent for g... more info>> (Published: 2008)

3 Red Flags
by Ed Goldberg
Lenny Schneider is hired to protect a client from vague threats delivered with cut-and-paste notes. In the process, he discovers a plot to kill seemingly-random victims connected only by old age. Schneider finds a possible motive in the contents of a long-dead writer's journal, and gets caught in the web of a fifty-year old political vendetta having its roots in the anti-communist hysteria of the 1940s and 1950s. Then he realizes that all the deaths involve the color red. As he closes in on the ... more info>> (Published: 2012)

4 Served Cold
by Ed Goldberg
New York PI Lenny Schneider agrees to protect a revenge-thirsty Holocaust survivor from killing the concentration-camp guard he seeks. Lenny is caught-up in a web of lies and violence mixed with baseball, great food and music. His story is told in a hip, sometimes bawdy voice, filled with puns, quips and hilarious one-liners.
