Bio: I was born in Shanghai, China, of an Italian-Dutch-Indonesian father and a Chinese mother. I lived five years in Italy, 15 years in Brazil. I speak fluent Portuguese and passable Italian. I have some 50 publication credits in national periodicals and literary journals. Six are first-place award winners. My novels are Journey from Shanghai (set in Shanghai and Italy), The Year of the Rat (set in Shanghai), The Snake Woman of Ipanema (spirit ritual/horror, set in Brazil), A Rare Passion, a romance set in Brazil, and Stone of Heaven (the Chinese name for jade). Snake Woman is a frightening look at what goes on at night all over Brazil; RAT is about China's occupation by Communists, the anguish of locals with murder and love; Shanghai is about a family's exile to Italy with little money and how they survive.
