Bio: Vanyell DelaCroix is the vampire personae that Cliff T. Roberts digs up and dusts off every Halloween for vampire poetry readings. Vanyell was born of death with a thirst for immortality, and yet little is known of him. In the last couple of years, Vanyell has been seen across North Texas reading his vampiric verses at various venues. He appeared at the Travis Street Coffee Shop, Finely Playhouse, Voices of Texoma, all in Sherman. He's also read at Barnes & Noble in Plano, and the one in Lewisville, Club Insomnia in Dallas, Borders in Ft. Worth, and at the Texoma Poetry Society and Poetry Society of Texas monthly meetings as well as the Fort Worth Fall Festival of Art. Since 1998 Vanyell has placed in 26 various poetry slams & contests. In October of 1998, he won Best Costume at the Midway Mall Costume Contest in Sherman; and on October 26, 1999, Vanyell was the Special Guest Poet at "Janelle Un-Plugged!" in Dallas, Texas. Vanyell's "Nosferatu Night," "Lyrical Lurker" and "Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie des Grauens." won him the Best Poet of the Masquerade! 1st Runner Up in the October 31, 1999 in A. I. N. Alphabet Soup Masquerade Contest under the "e-costume" of GrafOrlok1922. As BeladonaNghtshd Vanyell won Best Poet of the Masquerade - 1st Place on October 30, 2000, in Alphabet Soups 2nd Annual Masquerade Party for his/her "Just Deserts," "Night Wind," and "Ask Me About Masquerades." Vanyell has had poems printed in Poetic Patter: the Texoma Poetry Society's newsletter, Sunshine & Shadows, The Unnamed Faction Pillow Book, Amazing Instant Novelist Contest Spotlight e-zine, Map of Austin Poetry e-zine and the Forever Knight Un-named Faction Poetry website. His website, "The Cyber Crypt" was reviewed by NOVL LAND for the October 29, 1999 issue of "MOODS" Amazing Instant Romance's Newsletter and he was interviewed in an article called 'Interview With A VANPIRE 13' by NOVL Umm for the February 29, 2000 issue of "MOODS". In addition to his children's book, Daysleeper and In Another Vein by SynergEbooks, Vanyell is currently working on 4 poetry chapbook manuscripts: Vampiric Verses, Crimson, Dark Side Of The Muse, and a gothic takeoff on a few of Maya Angelou poems, which he calls I Know Why The Enraged Bat Screams. Also in the works, are a satyrical, Chicken Blood for the Vampiric Soul, a newszine called "Coffin Break: A Vampire/Goth 'Zine for the Red River Area", two short stories: "Christmas Wish" and "Unfinished Business," and a novel called Leaving Santorini. Vanyell is the editor and webmaster of the online magazine--The Undead Poets Society--which spotlights other poets' and authors' gothic/vampiric works. Vanyell has a decent goth/vampire CD collection, over 100 vampire videos, 400 vampire books, a modest gargoyle collection and lives with 2 blood donors, a cat and several lizards. Just in the last few years, Vanyell has raised his voice in the night like a wolf baying at the moon. "Remember my name, you'll be screaming it later!"
